Server Migration

Yet another server migration, yet another 110 users, and yet another 25 domains. This was… interesting. Seems to be stable now. This is fun, don’t get me wrong, but it’s SO draining.

(I really like this song.)

  • Microsoft deletes IE from many computers!

[23:05] <jc> Many Microsoft Windows users who downloaded the recently released AntiSpyware program from Microsoft, or had it installed through an automatic Windows update, woke up to a surprise. Unintentionally, the heuristics of the software detected Internet Explorer as spyware, and removed the program from their systems.
[23:06] <jc> STORY OF THE YEAR, EVERYBODY
    [23:06] <jc> <3 BBspot.
    [23:07] <opal> wha?
    [23:08] <burr86> HGAHAHAHAHA
[23:12] <jc> A representative from Lavasoft, which sells Ad-Aware another spyware removal program, complained that Microsoft was using its monopoly and knowledge of the operating system to “offer features that others can’t match.”
[23:12] <jc> “Tough shit,” said Weatherbee.
[23:12] <jc> Many computer users did not view this new “feature” positively. “I tried to check the weather this morning and all my little blue ‘e’ icons were missing. I couldn’t get to the Internet at all. I guess I’ll have to get a new computer,” said Windows XP user Graham Newton.

  • Delays, delays…

I’ve not been able to update this or Unadopted for a while, now. I’ve barely stopped, but I feel like I’ve done nothing. Its weird.

Monday I went with Cat () and saw Paul and helped his dad figure out a network, and then went to the pub and met with a couple of people.

Tuesday I went out with Cat again because we’ve been together two and a half years now, and we had tapas. Why the hell have I never done that before? It was sooooooooo good. And then we went to the Goose in Croydon, which I’ve decided is my new favourite pub. :p

Yesterday I had a relatively quiet evening at home, not doing a lot and yeah.

I want to make a videopost, but I don’t know what about. Give me something to talk/rant about!

Hm. Okay, nearly done with lunch so have to go back to work. Scary that I’m only here for another day and a half. :( I like it here.

    New post on Unadopted

    Much better than the first.

Add to your friends lists! After a while, i’ll stop reminding you to check!

(Yes, that screenshot was deliberately picked because it highlighted my surprise.)

(My post speed is much quicker now. Before it took me a day and a half to get a decently encoded copy of the video. This time it took 10 minutes from clicking “record” to clicking “publish blog”.)

  • Unadopted Video

Replaced the video on Unadopted with a better quality one. May do another post tonight, although it’s looking increasingly unlikely. May have to wait until tomorrow.

  • Video blog updated

I’ve posted in my videoblog! It’s awful, and it’s been encoded really badly but I’ll fix the encoding later, and hopefully my being uncomfortable infront of the camera will fade, the more I do this…

  • Six Apart did buy LiveJournal

It’s true, Six Apart did buy LiveJournal.

Whilst I was quite uneasy towards this yesterday morning, speaking to people throught yesterday changed my mind, and I now thoroughly believe this is a good thing, and I’m glad to have been a LiveJournal user for 4.5 years. Bring on the next 4.5 years!

Well done to all the LiveJournal staff and volunteers, past and present. You did good… carry on doing so!
