Just watched Full Metal Jacket ( loaned me the DVD). That film is brilliant. Definately on my list of favourite films, mainly because the first 45 minutes or so, when they’re in boot camp reminded me SO much of when I used to be in the Air Training Corps. This quote pretty much sums up when I was in cadets:

Gunnery Sergeant Hartman: How tall are you Private?
Private Cowboy: SIR, FIVE FOOT NINE, SIR!
Gunnery Sergeant Hartman: Five foot nine? I didn’t know they stacked shit that high!

That entire scene had my laughing so bad because it was just like how cadets used to be.
